Biography

Brooke began her career in the legal field as an intern for Legal Aid in Greensboro, North Carolina. After undergrad, she attended Meredith College where she earned a Graduate Paralegal Degree, which at the time was the only ABA approved paralegal program in the state. She went on to become a North Carolina State Bar Certified Paralegal. While in paralegal school, Brooke worked at a family law firm. After graduating, she worked as a personal injury and medical malpractice paralegal for 13 years.

Brooke received her J.D., cum laude, from North Carolina Central University School of Law. While in law school, Brooke received the Book Award for the highest grade in legal writing. During law school, she also interned for two Justices on the North Carolina Court of Appeals as well as several law firms in Durham. Prior to law school, Brooke received her B.A. in Sociology Criminology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Brooke is a native of Moore County and proud to be serving the community where she grew up and loves. She attended Pinehurst Elementary and Middle schools, and graduated from Pinecrest High School. In fact, almost her entire immediate and extended family are natives of Moore County too. She is one of the few still in Moore County who can jokingly say, “I’m probably related to them.”

As a young girl, she remembers running the halls and grounds of the Pinehurst Hotel (now the Carolina) where her “Popie” worked as a ground’s keeper. Her grandparents had a major impact on her life, instilling strong character values of hard work, kindness, and gratitude.

Brooke and her husband reside in Cameron with their two children, German-shorthaired pointer, and three Weimaraners. When she is not working, Brooke enjoys running long distances, yard work, traveling to the mountains to hike with her family, and watching her daughter play volleyball and her son play baseball. She can also be found water skiing at Lake Tillery in the summer.
